Abstract

An actuator has a hollow track railhaving a slitextending in an axial direction thereof, a movable blockdisposed inside the track railto be movable along the track rail, and a ball screw mechanism for moving the movable blockalong the axial direction of the track rail. The track rail has, in a section perpendicular to the axial direction of the track rail, a guide portionfor guiding movement of the movable memberand an extensionextending from the guide portionso as to cover the movable member, and a width Wof the slitof the track rail formed between the opposed extensionsis narrower than a width Wof the movable member. Accordingly, the actuator can provide a high rigidity in spite of compact outer dimension.
