Abstract

A spark plug () includes: a center electrode (); and a ground electrode () which is to be exposed in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine and which forms a spark discharge gap with the center electrode (), wherein at least one of the center electrode () and the ground electrode () contains an electrode material whose principal component is Ni and in which an intermetallic compound is precipitated at least intergranularly and intragranularly.
