Abstract

In a method of synthesizing magnesium-cobalt pentahydride, a MgCoalloy is synthesized by completely reacting cobalt (Co) metal and excess magnesium (Mg) metal, followed by an isothermal evaporation casting process (IECP) for removing the residual magnesium metal. Then, the magnesium-cobalt alloy and another magnesium metal are ball-milled and hydrogenated to synthesize the magnesium-cobalt pentahydride (MgCoH).
