Abstract

To effectively reproduce video depending on the performance of a reproducing apparatus. A controllerdetermines whether or not an entry of video is a beginning of a chapter of video or whether or not a scene change of the entry is important. In other words, the controllerdetermines whether or not an entry under evaluation corresponds to a time of a chapter of chapter scene change informationor whether or not the entry is an important scene change. If an entry under evaluation corresponds to a time of a chapter, the controllersets priority_flag=3 and stores it to an output server. The present invention can be applied to a game device or the like that uses for example a DVD.
