A technology for facilitating computer-aided detection (CAD) includes in one implementation, receiving an enhancement pattern () generated from image data. The enhancement pattern is pre-processed to produce an alert level (). Computationally-intensive analysis may be performed on a region of interest if it corresponds to an enhancement pattern with a high alert level.
