A projector including a light source unit, a display device and a projector control means, wherein the light source unit includes a fluorescent plateincluding fluorescent material layersdisposed adjacent for emitting light in predetermined wavelength ranges by absorbing light, a diffusion plateincluding a diffusion layerdisposed adjacent to the fluorescent material layersfor emitting light in a diffusing fashion, a light source for shining light on the layers, a driving device for rotating the plates, and a light cut-off platehaving a light cut-off portion, the light cut-off platecapable of rotating together with the platesand movable so that the light cut-off portioncovers an area on the diffusion platewhere light is to be shone by the locked state being released when the diffusion platecomes off.
