A high-efficiency lateral multi-junction solar cell (C) includes ultra-low profile planar spectral band splitting micro-optics having a shortpass filter () reflecting desired frequencies of light () to a reflective mirror () combined with spectrally optimized photovoltaic (solar) cells.
