Abstract

Disclosed is a method for preparing a compound of Formula 1 by contacting compound of Formula 2 with R—NHin the presence of a carboxylic acid and a method for preparing a compound of Formula 2 by contacting a compound of Formula 4 with phosphorus tribromide. wherein Ris H, C-Calkyl, cyclopropyl, cyclopropylmethyl or methylcyclopropyl; Ris CHor Cl; Ris C-Calkyl or C-Calkenyl, each optionally substituted with up to 3 halogen and up to 1 phenyl; and X is Cl or Br. Also disclosed is a method for preparing a compound of Formula 5 wherein R, R, Rand Z are as defined in the disclosure,using a compound of Formula 1 that is characterized by preparing the compound of Formula 1 by the method above.
