Abstract
A method for managing information signal distribution in a communication system () includes transmitting a signal containing information configured according to a first media format from a first communication device () to a second communication device (). At least one of the two devices () monitors at least one operating characteristic of a depletable power supply () sourcing electrical energy for the second device (). When a level of the monitored operating characteristic falls below a predetermined threshold, the first communication device () outputs the information to the second communication device () according to a second media format that requires less power consumption to process than does the first media format. Alternatively, under such circumstances, the first communication device () may output the information to a media output device other than the second communication device ().
