Abstract
At the time of initial start-up, two or more storage units are started as a start-up control unit so that the total power consumption will not exceed specified electric power. Upon initial start-up of additional chassis, a CPUfor a basic chassisselects, based on predicted power consumption for additional chassis, etc., N additional chassis as a start-up control unit so that total power consumption for the basic chassisand the respective additional chassisas recognized by an external power sourcewill not exceed the specified electric power; and the CPUthen turns on auxiliary power switchesfor the additional chassisbelonging to the selected start-up control unit.
