Abstract

The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a blue silicate phosphor having high luminance and a chromaticity y comparable to or lower than that of BAM:Eu. The present invention is a method of manufacturing a blue silicate phosphor represented by the general formula aAO.bEuO.(Mg,Zn)O.cSiO.dCaCl, where A is at least one selected from Sr, Ba and Ca, and 2.970≦a≦3.500, 0.006≦b≦0.030, 1.900≦c≦2.100, 0≦d≦0.05, and 0≦w≦1 are satisfied. In this manufacturing method, heat treatment is carried out in a gas atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 1×10atm to 1×10atm at a temperature of 1200° C. to 1400° C.
