Abstract

The invention relates to an ink jet printing device () for printing multicolored images, with an essentially horizontally extending conveyor mechanism () for moving items to be printed () lying on it in a forward feed direction (), and with a print head arrangement () disposed above the conveyor mechanism () which is disposed stationary relative to the conveyor mechanism () during the printing process. The print head arrangement () is made up of several print heads () each with several nozzles disposed in a nozzle row (), and the nozzle rows () have a printing range width () as measured perpendicular to the forward feed direction () which forms a total printing range width () of the print head arrangement () corresponding to the number of print heads (). The print head arrangement () is disposed so that it can be displaced vertically on a guide () and a nozzle rinsing device () is provided which can be positioned underneath the print head arrangement () as and when necessary.
