A method and system for determining a brake pressure which is predefined by a vehicle control system involve effecting a vehicle braking process initiated by an electronic braking system and/or the vehicle driver, determining a vehicle deceleration a, and a brake pressure p, comparing the brake pressure pagainst a reference pressure p, terminating the braking process triggered by the electronic braking system when pis less than the reference pressure p, or continuing the braking process triggered by the electronic braking system when pis greater than or equal to the reference pressure p.
