Abstract

The apparatus and method of the present invention provide an automatic notificationproduced by a standalone equipmentto indicate that the equipmentis due to be returned to an issuing organization or individual. Only the issuing organization or individual has the capability to resetor disable the automatic notification. Return notification comprises visualand/or audiblecomponents that are triggered by the expiration of a timer. Optionally, for non-essential equipment, the equipment is disableduntil resetby the issuing organization or individual.
