Direct reaction fuel cells () with cross-flow of an electrolyte mixture through thick, porous electrodes () that contain a mixture of catalyst particles and that rotate to generate Taylor Vortex Flows () and Circular Couette Flows () in electrolyte chambers () are disclosed.
