Abstract
The invention relates to a chain wheel (), especially for a timing chain drive, with a rotary shaft, a sprocket wheel () positioned around the rotary shaft featuring multiple alternating teeth () and tooth gaps () distributed around its circumference, as well as at least one chain guide (), the sprocket wheel () and the chain guide () are rigidly joined, the chain guide () incorporates a contoured surrounding support cage () causing it to bear on contact faces of link plates () and the support cage () or raised regions of the support cage () extend along a curved circumference that constitutes the perimeter of the chain guide (), said perimeter of the chain guide () having a non-circular profile.
