Abstract

Customer triggered resource reservation requests () are granted or refused in an access node () on the basis of available resources on downlinks () between the access node () and customer premises, and eventually uplinks () between the access node () and an aggregation network (). Network triggered resource reservation requests () are granted or refused in a central resource admission control device () on the basis of knowledge of available resources in the aggregation network () and the contents of an admission control report () received from the access node (). The admission control report () is generated by the access node () on the basis of available resources on downlinks () between the access node () and customer premises, and eventually uplinks () between the access node () and an aggregation network (). The access node () thus coordinates the granting and refusing of customer triggered resource reservation requests () and network triggered resource reservation requests () for the downlinks () and eventually the uplinks () extending from this access node ().
