Abstract

Benzanilides of the formula: in which X represents hydrogen, halogen, nitro, Calkylthio, Calkylsulfinyl, Calkylsulfonyl or Calkylsulfonyloxy; Y represents halogen or Calkyl; Rrepresents Calkyl, Calkylthio-Calkyl, Calkylsulfinyl-Calkyl or Calkylsulfonyl-Calkyl; Rrepresents hydrogen, Calkyl or Chaloalkyl; Rrepresents hydrogen or hydroxy; W represents CH or N; and Q represents optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted pyridyl wherein the substituent is at least one group selected from the group consisting of halogen, Chaloalkyl, Chaloalkoxy, Chaloalkylthio, Chaloalkylsulfinyl and Chaloalkylsulfoxy; provided that when Ris hydroxy, Ris not Calkyl, or when Ris Chaloalkyl, Ris hydroxy, W is CH, and the substituents of Q are two or more Chaloalkyl. Insecticides comprising the benzanilides are herein provided.
