Abstract
An object is to provide a sintered body having a sufficiently higher polishing rate than a conventional AlTiC sintered body and providing a sufficiently smooth air bearing surface. The sintered body according to the present invention consists of AlOand a compound represented by the chemical formula (1) below:TiCO  (1)wherein x+y≦1, x>0 and 0.3<y≦0.6.
