Abstract

To provide an amino group-containing water-soluble copolymer having a high chelating performance and clay dispersancy and a method of producing the amino-group containing water-soluble copolymer efficiently and with high productivity. A water-soluble polymer containing an amino group-containing monomer unit, wherein the water-soluble polymer has a molecular weight distribution of 12 or less, and a method of producing the water-soluble polymer according to any one of claimsto, wherein the method comprises a step of polymerizing an amino group-containing allyl monomer using an initiator containing a heavy metal ion and sulfurous acid (sulfite), hydrogensulfite or hydrogen peroxide.
