Abstract
A hydrogen absorbing alloy is provided that is represented by the general formula LnMgNiA, where: Ln is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ca, Zr, Ti, and rare-earth elements including Y; A is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Co, Mn, V, Cr, Nb, Al, Ga, Zn, Sn, Cu, Si, P, and B; and x, y, and z satisfy the following conditions 0.05≦x≦0.25, 0<z≦1.5, and 2.8≦y+z≦4.0, wherein Ln contains 20 mole % or more of Sm.
