Abstract
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing a coal cake for coking, in which a bed () of coal is compacted in a mold () by pulses of hammers () which act on the bed, and is solidified to form a block. In accordance with the invention the bed () is not only worked on in pulses by the hammers () but is also subjected to compression.
