Abstract

According to a vehicle door system (), when a forward collision prediction sensor () predicts a forward collision of a vehicle (), a state is immediately brought about where a terminal edge portion () at the rear end of a front door () is positioned more outwardly in the vehicle width direction than a terminal edge portion () at the front end of a rear door (). Thus, even when the front door () is moved toward the rear door () side (that is, toward the rear of the vehicle) due to a forward collision or the like that has occurred after the forward collision is predicted, for example, it is possible to prevent the situation in which the front door () is jammed inside the rear door (), more specifically, the situation in which a rear-end hemmed portion () of the front door () gets inside a front-end hemmed portion () of the rear door () with respect to the vehicle width direction.
