Abstract
A noble metal is supported on an upstream-side catalytic portionat least, and an SOstorage material, such as Mg and K that lower the noble metal's activities, is supported on a downstream-side catalytic portion. The noble metal being supported on the upstream-side catalytic portionoxidizes SOefficiently to turn it into SO, because the lowering of oxidizing activities is suppressed. These SOare retained by means of storage in the SOstorage material being loaded on the downstream-side catalytic portion. Therefore, the SOstoring performance improves, and it is good in terms of durability as well.
