Abstract
The invention includes a message switching equipment for transmitting messages between container units placed in containers and a monitoring server. The message switching equipment comprises at least a container unit, a gateway unitproviding communication links, and a message handlerwhich is coupled to the monitoring server. The message switching equipment is adapted to send a first messagefrom the container unitvia a cellular networkto the message handlerin response to an event relating to the container. In more detail, the first messageis sent through a cellular network radioof the container unit. The equipment is further adapted to receive through a short range radioof the container unita second messageoriginated from one of the container units and transmit the second messagefrom the container unitvia the cellular networkto the message handler.
