Abstract
The invention relates to a compound of the following formula (I) X—CRRRwherein —Ris an organic moiety having 6 to 24 carbon atoms; —Ris H or an organic moiety having 6 to 24 carbon atoms; —Ris X or OH; —X is a moiety of the following formula (II): or an ammonium or C-Calkyl ammonium salt of the moiety of formula (II); wherein -x is 0 or 1; -y is 0 or 1; -z is 0 or 1; -m is a number from 2 to 10; -n is a number from 0 to 10; -o is a number from 0 to 10; —Ris H or a C-Calkyl group; —Ris a C-Calkyl or alkenyl group or, if n or o is at least 1, a C-Cacyl group; —Ris H or R; —Ris a C-Calkylene group. which is capable of delivering aldehyde-type or ketone-type fragrance compounds, providing a long-lasting release of said fragrance compounds. This compound can be incorporated into fiber conditioning compositions, such as hair conditioners and fabric softeners, to enhance the fragrance performance. The compound provides controlled release from the substrate where it has been deposited over an extended period of time.
