Abstract
An electronic control unitcalculates a target output torque of an internal combustion enginebased on a manipulation amount of an accelerator pedal, a vehicle speed, and a state of a transmission gear ratio of an automatic continuously variable transmission, and calculates a target opening of a throttle valvebased on the calculated target output torque. If the current value of the transmission gear ratio of the automatic continuously variable transmissionis smaller than a predetermined value, the target opening of the throttle valvecalculated based on the target output torque is limited to be less than or equal to a preset upper limit.
