A method for manufacturing a charge control agent comprising steps of: (in the chemical formula [1], —Ar— and —Ar— are aromatic groups) and a metal chelating agent to prepare an azo-type metal complex salt intermediate; (in the chemical formula [2], —Ar— and —Ar— are the same as the chemical formula [1]; M is a trivalent metal; Bis a cation except an ammonium ion; n is from 0.70 to 1.00).
