Abstract
A media transportation mechanism control method and a media processing device can accurately detect the last disc or other media stored in a media storage unit. A transportation armis lowered to the media stacker, the transportation armis paused when the media detection mechanismdetects the media, and the transportation armis then raised and the position where the media detection mechanismstops detecting the media is stored as media height H. After the transportation armdescends again, picks a disc M from the media stacker, and then rises, the media height H is compared with a prescribed threshold limit α. If the media height H is less than the threshold limit α, the number of media left in the media stackeris determined to be a prescribed count (such as zero).
