Abstract

If a device non-compatible with CEC is contained in an input path when a display apparatus is HDMI-connected hierarchically to a plurality of external devices, an external device which has transmitted <Active Source> is selected as an operation object device. A TV () is HDMI-connected hierarchically to external devices (an AV amplifier (), recorders (), a DVD player ()) in a tree shape. The TV () receives <Active Source> indicating an active state capable of video output from the DVD player () and transmits <Set Stream Path> for switching the input path to the DVD player (). When a device non-compatible with CEC (AV amplifier ()) is contained in the input path which transmits <Set Stream Path>, the TV () selects the DVD player () specified <Active Source> as an operation object device.
