Abstract
An optical pickup according to the present invention includes: a light sourcefor irradiating an optical diskwith light; a lensfor converging the light onto the optical disk; a photodetectorhaving a plurality of detection regionsfor detecting light which is reflected from a signal surface of the optical diskand converting the light into an electrical signal; a hologram elementhaving a hologram regionfor guiding the reflected light to the photodetector; and a light-shielding platefor blocking at least a portion of light transmitted through a region of the hologram elementother than the hologram region. The light-shielding plateincludes a light shielding portionfor blocking light, and an aperturefor allowing the light to be transmitted therethrough. The apertureis present, above an upper face of the hologram element, in a region including the hologram region, and a center position of the apertureis shifted from a center position of the hologram region
