Abstract

A run flat safety bandhas a wireless sensorincorporated therein, which can be remotely interrogated in order remotely to confirm that the safety band is fitted on a wheel. The sensorincludes a pressure and temperature sensor, enabling the pressure and temperature within the tiremounted on the wheelto be remotely checked, by means of which remote indication can be provided that the tirehas deflated and is running on the runflat bandand also that the tireis overheating and likely to break up prematurely while running on the runflat band
