Abstract
A brake system has a first piston () which is coupled to a brake pedal (), a second piston () used to actuate a master cylinder (), a third piston () actuated by the first piston () and movable into a force-transmitting connection with the second piston (), and a pedal travel simulator. The first and the third pistons are coupled depending on the displacement of the third piston (). The pressurization of a space () between the second and the third piston loads the second and third pistons () in opposite directions. A pressure-supplying module () enables both filling and evacuation of the space () as well as its evacuation. A fourth piston () between the first piston () and the third piston () delimits a hydraulic compartment () in interaction with the third piston (). A valve assembly () varies the pressure introduced into the space ().
