Abstract
A worm gear drive has a self locking gear train. The gear train comprises a wormfitted to a motor shaftand in mesh with a worm wheelwhich drives the output. The motor shaftextends between two thrust bearingshaving faceswhich contact respective axial ends of the motor shaft. The contact between at least one of the thrust bearingsand the shaftis adapted to provide a high frictional force.
