According to one embodiment, a server is automatically deployed using a pre-provisioned logical volume LV. A first world wide name WWNis associatedwith a logical volume LVassociated with a disk array controller. A second world wide name WWN, which is assigned to a server S, is receivedat the disk array controller. Ifthe first world wide name WWNis the same as the second world wide name WWN, the server Sis enabledto access the logical volume LV. The first and second world wide names are not required to be assigned to any server S, Sat the time that the first world wide name is associated with the logical volume.
