Abstract

A sentinel lymph node detecting apparatusaccording to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a light source unit, illuminating an excitation lightand an illumination lightonto a biological observation locationthat includes a sentinel lymph nodenear a tumor, into which a fluorescent dye that emits fluorescence is injected; an optical filter, transmitting a fluorescence imageand a normal image; an image pickup device, disposed integral to the light source unitand picking up the fluorescence imageand the normal imagetransmitted through the optical filter; and an image display device, displaying the observation images that have been picked up. The wavelength of the illumination lightis set to a value close to the wavelength of the fluorescence emitted from the fluorescent dye.
