Abstract
A system (), device () (), and method are provided for power saving in a wireless communication network (), where all devices () regularly transmit a beacon () but can enter a hibernation mode in which they do not transmit beacons () and operate in a power-saving state. A device () announces the start () and duration () of the hibernation period in its beacon () prior to its hibernation period. The neighboring devices () keep information on the presence of the beacon () of the hibernating device () in their own beacons () in order to block the beacon slot () for the hibernating device () during its sleep time. Devices () furthermore include an information element () in their beacons () that contains all receiver addresses for which a device () has data pending to be sent.
