Abstract

A helmet () comprising a mechanism () to increase or decrease the internal volume thereof through the displacement of one or more portions () of the protective material () lining the helmet shell (). The adjustment mechanism () is mounted on or adjacent the shell () of the helmet (), from which project one or more connectors () which are operationally connected to the movable portions () of the protective material (). When the adjustment mechanism () is activated, for example clockwise or counterclockwise, the connectors () are displaced, which causes the movable portions () of the protective material () to either be displaced away from the shell () of the helmet () or towards the shell () of the helmet () and thus allowing for a fine tuning of the fit of the helmet () on a player's head.
