Abstract

A body weighing machine () is provided with a distance measuring sensor () at the central position (C) of a base plate unit (). A CPU () measures the body weight of a human subject. The CPU () then drives the distance measuring sensor () to measure a distance (Dm) between the sensor and a floor surface and determines whether a minimum distance (D) between the base plate unit () and the floor surface is zero. The CPU () displays via a display unit () a message indicating that an error has occurred in a case in which the minimum distance (D) is zero, and otherwise displays the measured body weight on the display unit ().
