Abstract
An original reading apparatus includes an original transport mechanism that has a pickup roller (R) and the like and an original reading mechanism that has a light source unit () and the like, and captures an image of an original transported by the original transport mechanism. When multi-feeding has occurred, in which when a read original (P) is transported, another original (P) is also transported, and the other multi-fed original (P) is not positioned between the read original (P) and the light source unit () (that is, when a read face (P) of the read original (P) is not obstructed), the reading operation of the read face (P) of the read original (P) is continued by the original reading mechanism.
