Abstract

A mobile wireless bridge (MWB) () is able to bridge traffic in either direction between a wireless LAN () and a wireless WAN (), and support roaming of LAN clients (--) and of the MWB () itself. Through the MWB (), wired () and wireless LAN () clients (--) and users are provided Internet () connectivity even if the LAN client (--) is not otherwise able to access the wireless WAN (). Preferred MWBs () will utilize mobile cellular communication networksas part of a WAN () used to obtain access to Internet () resources. LAN clients (--) and users can also access each other through the MWB () with the MWB () functioning as a hub, switch, gateway, and/or access point. Some MWBs () will be adapted to access multiple types of LANs () and multiple types of WANs ().
