Abstract
A surgical tool holderand tool systemis provided. The surgical tool holder () is adapted to connect to a tool support () having an interface receiver (). The tool support provides a mount for a surgical tool head. The tool holder () includes a center rod (), a tool interface () and a quick connect mechanism (). The center rod () has a first shank end () and a second tool end (). The tool interface () is disposed on the tool end () of the center rod (). The tool interface () has at least one transversely extending portion (), extending radially outward, beyond the diameter of the center rod () at the tool end (). The interface () is adapted to engage with the interface receiver (). The quick connect mechanism () is disposed on the center rod () to move in a rotationally-constrained manner thereon proximate the tool interface (). The mechanism () includes protrusions () biased to bear against and engage the tool support () when the tool support is engaged with the tool interface (). This securely holds the tool support () and prevents its relative rotation with respect to the tool holder ().
