Abstract

A droplet applying apparatus includes a basehaving a mounting surfaceon which a substrateis to be mounted, beam memberswhich are fitted to the baseso as to be movable relative to the basein the arrow A direction, a plurality of droplet ejecting sectionswhich are fitted to the beam membersso as to be movable in the arrow B direction and which eject droplets to the substratemounted on the mounting surface, reference members each of which is provided at a site of the beam membersproximate to the ejecting surface of each droplet ejecting sectionand whose distance to the mounting surfaceis known, a distance measuring sectionfor measuring a distance to the ejecting surface of each droplet ejecting sectionand a distance to each reference member, and a calculation sectionfor, based on a distance between the ejecting surface of the one droplet ejecting sectionand the distance measuring sectionas well as a distance between the one reference member and the distance measuring section, both measured by the distance measuring section, plus a known distance between the one reference member and the mounting surface, calculating a gap between the ejecting surface of the one droplet ejecting sectionand the mounting surface
