Abstract
The effect of detection errors when detecting if a disc recording medium is in a disc drive is eliminated. A control unitdetects if an optical discwas supplied to an optical disc drivebased on the operation of the transportation unitcauses the optical disc driveto detect if an optical discis inside the disc drive, and compares the results of these detection operations. If the results do not match, the control unitcauses the optical disc driveto repeat the operation discharging and loading the optical discand causes the optical disc driveto again detect if an optical discis present after the discharge and loading operation. The control unitthen determines if the new detection result from the optical disc driveand the detection result related to supplying the optical discto the optical disc drivematch, and based on the result of this evaluation detects an optical disc driveoperating error.
