A communication unit is provided having a transmitter and a processor (). The processor () receives information () representative of a configuration of physical channels (). The processor () determines a scaling factor responsive to the information () and facilitates scaling a signal () provided by a combination of the channels utilizing the scaling factor. The scaled signal () is provided to the transmitter.
