Abstract

In an embodiment, an aspheric IOL for use in a pseudophakic ocular system has no inherent spherical aberration. An embodiment of the invention is directed to a family of aspheric IOLs in which a lens constant, such as the well known A-constant, is kept constant throughout the family of lenses. An embodiment of the invention is directed to a multi-component accommodating intraocular lens (A-IOL) having substantially no inherent spherical aberration. An embodiment of the invention is directed to a family of member A-IOLs where each member A-IOL has a first () surface and a fourth () surface characterized by a radius and a conic constant that remain substantially constant over the power rage of the A-IOL family.
