Abstract

The present invention provides a process for depolymerizing mixtures comprising mono- and/or diesters of polytetrahydrofuran in the presence of an acidic catalyst and of a C- to C-alcohol at temperatures of from 80 to 200° C. and a pressure of from 0.05 to 0.5 MPa, where the molar ratio of the C- to C-alcohol relative to the carboxyl groups present in the mixture is greater than 1.
