Abstract
A circuit arrangement for providing a lamp wattage to a high-pressure gas discharge lamp (Lp), the arrangement includes an inverter (T, T) which supplies to the high-pressure gas discharge lamp (Lp), a lamp current (IL) which is essentially an alternating current with an operating frequency which is frequency modulated in a frequency range between a minimum frequency and a maximum frequency, an arithmetic mean is defined which is equal to the temporal mean of the frequency values for the operating frequency, swept in a lamp operation. A limit mean is defined which is equal to one half of the sum of minimum frequency and maximum frequency and is less that the arithmetic mean.
