The subject invention provides a hydraulic saildrive apparatus comprising an upper unithaving an input shaftconnected to an engineinside a boat, and a lower unithaving an output shaftincluding a propeller shaftand also having a lower portion protruding from the boat's bottom, wherein the upper unitis provided with a hydraulic forward and reverse switching clutchfor transmitting the rotation direction of the input shaftto the propeller shaft, the clutchbeing capable of changing the rotation direction between forward and reverse relative to the input shaft
