Abstract

An optical fiber mounting waveguide device and a method for fabricating the same, which provide a low optical connection loss and a high productivity. An under cladding layer (), a core (), and an over cladding layer () are sequentially formed on a substrate () to constitute an optical fiber mounting waveguide device (). An optical fiber mounting groove () for mounting an optical fiber () is formed on the optical fiber mounting waveguide device (). An end surface () of the over cladding layer () faces to the optical fiber mounting groove (). The core () and the under cladding layer () are projected toward the optical fiber mounting groove () with respect to the end surface () of the over cladding layer ().
